Lab Ready. Trusted Performance.
VirTis was founded in 1953 by Charles E. Bender and Martin C. Parkinson in Yonkers, New York, originally producing homogenizers. The name “VirTis” is a contraction of “Virus” and “Tissue,” reflecting the life science markets it would go on to serve. In 1955, VirTis moved into an abandoned International Harvester building in Gardiner, New York, where it began manufacturing laboratory research equipment.
Today, VirTis manufactures a wide range of freeze dryers for research, pilot-scale development, and small-batch production, from benchtop systems to mobile units and pilot freeze dryers. Whether you need to dry archaeological artifacts, recover water-damaged archival materials, prepare museum specimens, or produce diagnostics, probiotics, vaccines, and tissue banking products, VirTis has a solution.
Touchscreen and ethernet-enabled controllers support remote monitoring, with cleanroom and cGMP monitoring options available on select models. Chemical-resistant 316 stainless steel shelves accommodate corrosive applications.
Easy setup with standard laboratory utilities means your system is operational quickly, with no specialized infrastructure required.
The smooth-wall condenser enables fast defrost cycles and rapid turnaround between runs, keeping your workflow moving.
Configurable manifold and solvent packages support diverse applications across a broad range of sample types and workflows.
Compact, mobile, and benchtop designs fit into any lab environment without sacrificing capability or footprint.
We'd love to help you find a solution that best fits your needs at any stage of your project.
