To enhance the sensitivity and reproducibility of LCMSMS drug screening in forensic casework, Forensic Science Ireland evaluated the Genevac EZ-2 system as an alternative to nitrogen blow-down evaporation. The centrifugal approach enabled direct drying of solid-phase extracts within collection tubes, improving analyte recovery and reducing risk of sample loss. Comparative testing showed higher sensitivity for a range of controlled substances, including amphetamines and opioids, alongside reduced evaporation times and lower processing temperatures.
