Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the HT-6 and HT-12?
The HT-6 and HT-12 share the same evaporation technology, solvent compatibility, sample protection features, and vacuum system. The primary difference is throughput: the HT-6 can accommodate up to 24 shallow-well microplates, while the HT-12 can accommodate up to 48 shallow-well microplates.
How does the HT Series 3i ensure sample safety?
The HT Series 3i uses several technologies for sample protection, including Dri-Pure® anti-bumping technology to prevent sample loss and cross-contamination, the patented SampleGuard™ temperature control system to provide real-time monitoring and control of actual sample temperatures, and automatic end-of-run detection to help prevent overheating once evaporation is complete. These features work together to deliver safe, reproducible results in high-throughput workflows.
What type of vacuum pump does the HT Series 3i use?
It uses an external oil-free scroll vacuum pump with an ultimate system vacuum of < 0.4 mbar, supporting fast, efficient solvent removal while minimizing routine maintenance.
What types of solvents can the HT Series 3i handle?
The HT Series 3i can handle a wide range of solvents, including volatile organics, aqueous samples, and high-boiling-point solvents such as DMSO, DMF, and NMP. Optional configurations also enable the safe processing of challenging samples, including 6M HCl and low-flash-point solvents such as diethyl ether and pentane.
Can the HT Series 3i replace a freeze dryer?
In many applications, yes. LyoSpeed technology enables the HT Series 3i to automatically concentrate, freeze, and lyophilize samples in a single system, often producing dry powders in hours rather than days. This can simplify workflows, eliminate sample transfers between instruments, and increase laboratory throughput. For applications requiring a long-term shelf-stable lyophilized product, however, a dedicated freeze dryer may still be the better choice.
What sample formats does the HT Series 3i support?
The HT Series 3i supports virtually all common laboratory sample formats, including microplates, deep-well plates, microcentrifuge tubes, test tubes, vials, bottles, and flasks. A wide range of sample holders is available, including custom sample holders designed for specialized sample formats. The system is also compatible with SampleGenie™ technology for concentrating or lyophilizing larger-volume samples directly into a collection vial.
Can the HT Series 3i handle a variety of applications?
Absolutely! The HT Series 3i supports a broad range of high-throughput workflows, including drug discovery, medicinal chemistry, oligonucleotide processing, compound management, and preparative HPLC purification. Its flexible sample format support and high-capacity design make it particularly well-suited for pharmaceutical, biotech, and research laboratories.
