Freeze-drying of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) purification fractions containing organic solvents poses challenges due to volatility and vacuum system limitations. This article reports the development of a low-temperature condenser (VC6000) integrated into Genevac’s HT-12 system to enhance solvent trapping and reduce drying times. Comparative trials with standard condensers and pilot freeze dryers showed the upgraded system achieved superior solvent recovery, consistent vacuum stability, and improved sample morphology. The results highlight the importance of equipment innovation in achieving reproducible, efficient lyophilization of mixed aqueous-organic fractions.
