Lyophilization of nanoparticles has always been an elusive science. The variety of formulations of nanoparticles makes it impossible to have single cycle that would fit all types of nanoparticles. In this presentation we will start with a broad discussion of nanoparticles and their different types and then delve deeper into the specifics and attempt to shed some light on the formulation and lyophilization cycles for a few most commonly researched upon (and diverse as well) such as polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes and iron oxide nanoparticles. Although the lyophilization cycles may be specific to the formulations, the fundamental concepts remain the same. Presented by Dr. Nivesh K. Mittal, PhD Research Scientist at the Plough Centre for Sterile Drug Delivery Solutions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center
