Program Highlights

Submitting Your Bright Idea

  • Ideas can be fully developed or in the early stages of conceptualization. SP engineers, portfolio managers and production specialists are skilled at further development of ideas from any stage.
  • SP specializes in products serving the laboratory community and the home healthcare/rehabilitation markets. Our product range covers labware, glassware, lab safety, nmr/epr, benchtop equipment, OT assessments and aids for daily living. Ideas for submission should fall within these core markets and categories.
  • Many factors play a role in deciding to manufacture and market an idea – current market size, projected growth, competitive landscape, and required time/capital investment are all factors that SP will consider in our evaluation.
    • SP will provide a Non-Disclosure form which will protect any intellectual property rights.
    • SP scientific labware and equipment is sold worldwide and we have a successful history of collaborating with inventors who earned royalties and worked closely with us to bring their product ideas to market.

No. 37041-0000 and 37041-001) – U.S. Patent No. 5,409,312, Flowmi® Cell Strainers (Cat. No. 13680-0040 and 13680-0070), and SP Ableware Elevated Toilet Seat (Cat No. F72571-1000), Pat No. 5,251,338 and DLOTCA Battery Cognitive Assessment (Cat No. 71826-2000).
  1. Fill out the short submission form using the link below. Please do not divulge any proprietary information at this point.
  2. After initial review, we will let you know if we feel this idea/product may be a good fit for SP. If we are interested in pursuing your idea further, a Portfolio Manager will be assigned to the idea and they will provide you with a Non-Disclosure form which will protect any intellectual property rights.
  3. Once we gather additional information provided by you and our own research, the SP team will evaluate the idea for manufacturability and marketability.
  4. If the evaluation is positive a royalty agreement will be signed between you and SP. Please keep in mind many factors will affect any royalty awarded, including but not limited to: novelty, product assets, investment, intellectual property fees, market size. Note: For fully developed products we are also willing to consider exclusive distribution or licensing agreements.
  5. The product will be refined and developed, manufactured and launched. Where feasible, credit to the inventor in marketing and promotional materials will be considered.

Acceptance of your Idea is the beginning of a partnership between you and Scientific Products (SP). Ultimately, to be successful, both parties must approach a partnership with a spirit of:

Cooperation – The process is most successful when it is collaborative

Flexibility – Ideas often need to be “tweaked” or modified in order to increase their chances of success

Patience – Doing things right often can take time!
